Yeoman wore a green coat, hood, and shoulder belt, and he had peacock feathered arrows hanging from his belt. And in his hand he always carried his bow and wore a brace on his arm. He had a medal of St. Christopher that he wore.
The narrator described Yeoman as a nut head and the proper forester. The narrator said that he knew the whole of woodcraft up and down.
I think that Yeoman was an outdoorsman. He loved to shoot bows and arrows. When the narrator described Yeoman as having the head of a nut, it makes me think that Yeoman was very stubborn, or hard-headed.
